About Me

My photo
Hi! My name is Brittany. Welcome to my little blog. I am a 23 year old mom, military wife, & optimist. My husband is Justin, and he is in the USCG. We have the sweetest baby boy named Grayson. I enjoy the finer things in life.. such as a $6 bottle of wine and bad reality T.V. Quite frankly, life is good.

Wordless Wednesday. (Kind of, but not really.)

The last week and a half or so has been a total whirlwind. We spent last week visiting my husband's side of the family in Ocala & Crystal River, FL. It was such a good time. Busy, yet fun. Now, I am back to work, and oh so busy due to missing a whole week! Not to mention, my birthday is tomorrow! (with celebrations to follow this weekend.) Please forgive me if posting is scarce. After all of this craziness, I will sit down and catch up on some things I really want to write about. Check back soon for a new letter to Grayson, a post about our trip, and a post about traveling with a baby! For now, enjoy a couple of mobile photos from the last week and a half!

Little Things. 3.

I'm not feeling so hot today, and could sure use a pick me. What better way than to remind myself of some things that make me smile?!

1.) Neat lines on a freshly vacuumed carpet. If I could force my husband to play "the floor is lava" for a couple days after I vacuum, I totally would.

2.) When you are waiting in line, and a cashier opens a new register and waves you over. I'm not talking about when they flip on the light, and shout "REGISTER 3 OPEN." &Everyone in line behind you tries to rush over. I'm referring to when the sweet girl in the red polo and khaki pants flips on the light, looks you directly in the eyes, and waves you over. It makes me feel like I just won the check-out game.

3.) When you run to the restroom at a restaurant, and come back to see your food has arrived. I love food. This is no secret. So whenever this happens, I feel as if my meal is like, "Hello Brittany... I've been waiting for you." Yes, that is meant to be read in a seductive voice.

4.) When people/strangers tell you they would have never guessed you had a baby. Do I really need explain this one?!

5.) When you accidentally make a baby pancake. EVERYTHING IS CUTER MINIATURE. Of course a teeny tiny pancake is going to make you smile!!

How we recycle our empty water bottles.

Kickin' it on the bathroom floor with a water bottle.

Dear Grayson,

I am envious of your ability to be completely overjoyed by the smallest of things. In order for me to be able to get ready in the morning, I just have to give you an empty water bottle. Yes, an empty water bottle will keep you thoroughly entertained for the better part of an hour. How awesome is that?! You also really enjoy spatulas, pieces of paper, and empty wipe boxes.

Just helping Grandma with the dishes!

On the train ride to New York, you spent a good 30 minutes tearing your Grandpa's magazine into bits and pieces. That ability to find magic in anything and everything tends to fade as we grow older. I feel lucky to be able to feel that again through you. Even though I try my hardest to appreciate the little things in life, it is impossible to do so to the extent of a baby or child. You grab at the water bottle the second you see it. Those big blue eyes light up and widen every time you crunch the plastic between your fingers. You wave it in the air, smile, and squeal with delight. What some people would just consider trash, brings you pure joy. &There are very few things in this world better than seeing your child experience that kind of joy.

With Love,
Your Mama.

Thursday Thoughts.

Thursday Thoughts
I stumbled across a fun link-up via Jennifer at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom called Thursday Thoughts. How perfect for my random, mile-a-minute thought process. Thought I'd try it out today!

-I went running (well, alternating between jogging and walking) this morning for the first time in a while. Now that Grayson is sleeping much better at night, I definitely plan on doing so a lot more. Even though I had to wake up super early, I felt so good and full of energy afterwards. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to lose the last 5 lbs. of pregnancy weight. ;)

-I have a thing for funny commercials. The cheesier, the better. My husband makes fun of me whenever a commercial cracks me up. Last night, it was this Sonic commercial. "Touche." HA!

-We ordered the prints from our family portraits with lily B photography on Tuesday. I am SO beyond excited. If you are in the D.C. area, definitely have her do your photos. Her talent amazes me every time I see a new photo of hers. We feel so honored that she photographed us!!

-A little over a week until we leave for FL!

-Why isn't Breaking Bad back yet?!

With Love,
Brittany Danielle.

Liebster Blog Award

award

Lynsey, at Hot City Cool Mom, has nominated me for the Liebster Blog award! Yay!!
The Liebster Blog Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. “Liebster” is German for “favorite”. This award is the “favorite blog award”. You have to nominate 5-11 bloggers with less than 200 readers.
To accept the nomination, I have to complete the tasks below:
Link back to the blog that nominated you, Nominate 5-11 blogs with fewer than 200 followers, Answer the questions posted for you by your nominator, Share 11 random facts about yourself,
Create 11 questions for your nominees, and Contact your nominees and let them know you nominated them.
Answers to the questions from my Nominator:
1.) Why did you start blogging?
-I originally began blogging as a safe place to keep letters to my son throughout my pregnancy. I started doing it more because I love looking back at old journals, but I tend to misplace them. You can't lose the internet!

2.) If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
-Teleportation! I could see/do so much!

3.) If you could cast a movie star to play you, who would you select?
-Rachel McAdams. I would very much enjoy for people to picture her face when they hear my name.

4.) What is your favorite movie?
-This is a hard one. I have SO many favorites. I'm going to play it safe and say Little Mermaid. ;)

5.) What is your favorite book?
-Another toughie. Probably anything by Ellen Hopkins.

6.) What is your proudest moment?
-Giving birth my 11 lb 2 oz boy naturally, with no working drugs.(failed epidural)

7.) What is your dream vacation destination?
      -The Maldives. Gorgeous.

8.) Who is your role model?
-I have never really had a role model to look up to in my life. So, Sandy Cohen. &His eyebrows.

9.) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
-The fact that I always lose everything.

10.) How many different cities have you lived in?
-10. All in the same state & general area.

11.) What makes a great mother?
-Aside from unconditional love, I think the complete understanding and application of the fact that your children come first no matter what. Everyone talks about this, but it takes a real mother to actually do it.

Random Facts About Me:

1.) I don’t know how to ride a bike, and I can barely swim.

4.) I lose EVERYTHING all the time.

5.) I have a secret tattoo.

10.) Although I really stress out about finding the “perfect one”, I love giving gifts.

11.) I really, really enjoy eating.

12.) This list made me realize that I’m kind of a weirdo.

Here are my questions for my nominees:

1.) What is your favorite clothing store?

2.) What is your guilty pleasure?

3.) What is your favorite food?

5.) What is your silliest fear?
